The Artist
About Karen
Art has always been a constant and defining part of my life — a passion that has shaped who I am through every stage of my journey.
My love for creating art began at a very young age, when I spent hours drawing, doodling, and filling pages with my imagination. That early curiosity soon grew into exploring creative works using a variety of media such as charcoals, pastels, inks, and paints. As my artistic journey evolved, it became clear that one of my truest passions was creating canvases filled with blooms and flowers.
I carried that creative spirit with me to Cornell University, where I began to explore the intersection of art, design, and fabric science, majoring in Textile Science and Fabric Technology and minoring in Apparel Design and Marketing. That foundation led me into a 25-year career as a menswear textile designer, working for Burlington Industries and other textile design companies.
After leaving the textile industry, I returned to my roots and rediscovered my love of painting. While I am able to paint a wide range of subject matter, I am continually drawn back to flowers — their strength, beauty, and quiet resilience. They feel both universal and deeply personal, offering endless inspiration in the way they bloom, evolve, and endure even in darkness. For me, they serve as a reminder that growth and hope can emerge from life's most challenging moments.
Through bold color, rich texture, and dramatic contrast, my work explores themes of hope, resilience, and transformation. Each piece reflects my belief that even in life's darkest moments, something beautiful is always trying to emerge.
My wish is that my work offers moments of calm, peace, and beauty in one's life.
